Zelen Mobley was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 27, 2005, to Akiara Mobley and Frankie Washington Sr. Zelen was diagnosed with cancer and NF1 at the tender age of just 14 months but his disease as a toddler never slowed him down. He was a loving, funny, dancing, and rambunctious little guy. Zelen would receive chemotherapy and radiation that would put him into remission at the tender age of 3. He would grow up to attend the Des Moines public school system and was scheduled to graduate from North High School in June of 2024. Zelen would come out of remission shortly after his 18th birthday. Although the cancer was back, he remained true to the Zelen, we all knew, who loved spending time with his family, listening to music and was widely known and loved for his outrageous snapchats that would put a smile on any of his family and friends faces who weren’t having a good day. There was nothing like hearing his voice come through with a good joke and thunderous laughter to follow. Zelen will be truly missed as he was an inspiration to all he encountered. His resilience was always a light that shined and inspired all. Zelen leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother Akiara Mobley; father, Frankie Washington Sr.; sister, Elaine Washington; brother, Frankie Washington Jr., William Washington Dwayne Washington, and Zacchaeus Mobley; grandmother Gaylynne Shade; grandparents, Alberta and Robert Mobley. Zelen was preceded in death by Avery and Michelle Anderson; great grandmother, Ann Lynda Myles; great grandparents, Marjie and George Shade; aunts, Akeela Anderson, Akhira Anderson, Akeece Mobley, Tomica Coston, Kturi Myles, and Tera Washington; uncles, Akhoury Geer, Kenny Washington, Jordan Shade; great uncles Karl Foster ll, Steve Myles; great aunts Krystal 
Myles, Angela Myles and Leigha Myles and a host of cousins extended family and friends.
