Willie Lee Carr, Sr

Willie Lee Carr, the son of E.J. and Cora Carr, was born on April 2, 1950 in Batesville, Mississippi. At the age of 16, he moved with his family to Des Moines, Iowa. Upon settling, Willie continued his education at North High School. During his younger years, he confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and also became a member at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.

Willie began his professional career working in multiple positions at Kin Tech Pipe Co. in Grimes, IA and John Deere Co. in Waterloo, IA. For nearly 30 years, he worked for the hotel company Holiday Inn. During his employment, Willie met the love of his life Donna Hutchinson. The couple united in holy matrimony on July 17, 2010, bridging together their families, with a total of 10 children.

After 30 years of work in March of 2015, Willie retired from his position at the Holliday Inn. Willie had several pastimes including; wearing suave suits, fixing cars, college basketball, watching cowboy westerns, and loved professional wrestling

Willie also enjoyed spending time with his family, who he loved and cherished throughout his entire life. Willie passed away peacefully inside his home on July 9, 2016, surrounded by family and friends. He is now in the presence of the Lord, reunited with his parents. E.J. and Cora; daughter, Marshay Cherry; son, Joseph Watley; brothers-in-law, Willie James, Charles Walker, Don Bolden; and sister-in law, Virginia Carr.

Left to cherish Willies memory is his loving wife, Donna Carr; children, Willie Carr Jr., JonJon Carr, Tremayne (Shannon) Cherry, Lashay (Marvin) Washington, Lizzie (Demetrius) Rushing, Juanita (Curtis) Vivian, Tanesha (Brian) Vivian, Valerie (Jamarius) Vivian, James (Tyshika) Vivian; sisters, Lowrine Walker, Dorothy James, Emma Bolden, Ruthie Carter, Lucy Jefferson, Mattie (Ron) Tynes, Leslie Carr, Alsie Carr; brothers A.B. (Trina) Carr, James (Gene)Carr, Calvin (Dorothy) Carr, M.J. (Ella) Carr; uncle, C.S. Patton; 32 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and dear friends
