William Dixon

William Joseph Dixon passed away on January 6, 2023.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday January 14, 2023. Visitation will be held prior to service at 2:00pm, Saturday at Kingdom Life Family Ministries International 321 Euclid Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa 50310.

William Joseph Dixon, 62, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully Friday, January 6, 2023, at his home in Des Moines, Iowa.

Better known as Billy Jo, he was born October 15, 1960, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Claude and Madeline Edmonds Dixon. He attended North High School prior to joining the U.S. Marines, a veteran, honorably discharged in 1983. He graduated from Grandview University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1987.

William was an avid hunter and fisherman. A die-hard Hawkeye Fan and Intense for the Minnesota Vikings. He was employed with Hy-Vee, Frito Lay and Purcell Printing for 22 years.

William leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Shelby Lynne Dixon and Kali Jo Dixon, his grandson, Taji Henley II and a multitude of nieces and nephews. His brothers Clyde (Dee) Edmonds, Mike (Linda) Edmonds, Robert Timothy (Adrian) Edmonds, Terry (Penny) Edmonds; sisters, Claudette D. Edmonds, Nadine (Bob) Cole, Teresa Dixon and partner Lisa McDonald Stewart. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Kathleen Buckner, and Charlene Burrell.

He will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend to all those who knew him. The love and light that he brought to every space he entered will not be soon forgotten. His kindness was evident, as he was a friend to every soul he encountered. He will be remembered as someone with an undeniably contagious smile, someone who was always singing and dancing, and the life of every party.
