Vivian Hartence Woods

Mother Vivian Hartence (Williams) Barker-Woods was born on July 31, 1918 to Green Williams and Belle Givens, in Excelsior Springs, MO.

Mother Woods was blessed with 10 children: Ronald, Wayne, Evelyn, George, Jerald, Sharon, Toney, Louis, David and Steven. She was a dedicated homemaker who provided a loving Christian home for her children to grow and thrive in.

Mother Woods confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at young age. She was a member of Greater Love Church of God in Christ under the pastorate of her son, Superintendent Jerald Woods. Mother Woods was a dedicated servant who loved all of God's children. She'd often minister to others through encouraging letters to let you know that she was praying for you and remind you that God was still in control. Although Mother Woods did not sing in the choir, she was anointed with an angelic voice that soothed the soul. She was especially known to sing during testimony services. Mother Woods also enjoyed spending time reading the Bible and serving as a church mother; an appointment she held for over 50 years.

Mother Woods answered the Master's call to rest on February 9, 2016. Awaiting her on the other side of Jordan were her husband George Woods Jr.; son, Ron Barker; granddaughter, Ronna, her parents and several brothers and sisters.

Mother Woods gave her family an example of a Godly woman dedicated to the Lord and her family. Left to carry on her work are her children, Wayne (Ressie) Barker, Evelyn Muhammed, George Woods Jr, Supt. Jerald (Phyllis) Woods, Sharon (Jesse) Mosley, Toney (Patricia) Woods, Louis (Teresa) Woods, David Woods and Steven (Monica) Woods; brothers-in-law, Joe (Rose) Smith and William Smith; daughter-in-law, Francine Barker, 24 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren; siblings, David (Ameda) Williams and Jerry Williams and a host of other relatives and friends.
