Virginia Delores Hunter

Virginia Delores Hunter (aka grandma Ginny) was born December 3rd, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Ginny Jean Trotter and Noble C Floyd. She was one of 17 brothers and sisters.

Grandma Ginny was a phenomenal cook who was known in the neighborhood by Ginny who cooked at the

Y-Not, the popular neighborhood diner owned by her brother and his wife. She won over many hearts through the stomachs of family and friends and was infamous for her chili when working at Maid Rite in Waterloo, Iowa.

She always enjoyed reading especially romance novels and read well over 3,000 books, she also could never get enough of watching countless re-runs of Law and Order and The Price Is Right just to name a few. A free spirit at heart she would drive around the city and find great places to go eat at, garage sales and getting her gamble on occasionally, where she would drive out to Prairie Meadows Casino to play her penny slot machines all day long.

Grandma Ginny was a free spirited and a hard-working woman who took pride on being independent even down to her last days, she was definitively a fighter but even more so a loverIf she had it, so did you. She loved people in general and anyone who knew her was blessed to have felt her warmth, love and laughter and she always knew how to make an outsider feel like family. If you asked any of her friends they would tell you, "if you mess with Ginny you mess with me." To forever love one another like each day is our last and always stick together regardless of the past, be strong no matter what lies ahead there will always be brighter days to come, is the legacy of Virginia Delores Hunter. Rest in Peace Grandma Ginny!
