Troy Kingston was born June 30, 1949 in Greenville, Mississippi. Troy's mother, Lillie Mae Robinson, sent him to school in Greenville and he graduated from Coleman High School. After graduation Troy attended Rust College where he graduated with a degree in Music. Troy played bass guitar, keyboards and the organ.
Troy enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Viet Nam. He attained the rank of Expert Marksman while in the service. He was honorably discharged and settled in Los Angeles. He was at the carwash when he saw the love of his life come in. Norma White and Troy Kingston were married in 1971. They would later relocate back to Des Moines and Troy fell in love with the city. He found employment as an Electrical Technician for General Electric. He retired in 2000.
When Troy wasn't working he loved to socialize and entertain his family and friends. He liked playing dominoes and cards and of course he still played his music. He was a happy and generous man who was devoted to his grandchildren.
