Terry Brassell

Terry Gean Brassell was born on January 13, 1968 to Robert and Hattie (Dean) Brassell in Des Moines, IA. He was educated in the Des Moines Public School District and graduated from Des Moines Technical High School.

Terry was blessed with five children: Tannal, Ariole, Ashley, Tory and Kiyon. Along life's journey he would meet Wala Al-Hameed. The two would share and enjoy life from the time they met in 2008 to the time of his death.

Terry worked a variety of jobs throughout his life. Most recently he worked for the Homes of Oakridge as a Maintenance worker for over 20 years. He was also the barber for the kids of the Oakridge Neighborhood. There was not a soul around the neighborhood who did not know "Mr. Terry".

Terry was a well rounded guy. He learned how to sew/tailor clothes at Tech High and would continue his interest in "sharp vines" throughout his adult years. Terry loved hip hop culture. He was an aspiring rap artist and break dancer. His favorite artists were Biggie and Tupac. Terry was also a talented graffiti artist. To add to his many talents, Terry was also a great cook. He would sure "stick his foot" in every pot of his shrimp gumbo.

On May 27, 2015 Terry stepped from time into eternity. He was greeted on the other side by his parents, Robert and Hattie Brassell.

Left to cherish Terry's memory are his wife, Wala Al-hameed; his children, Tannal Martin, Ariole Byrd, Ashley Byrd, Tory Brassell, and Kiyon Yong; seven grandchildren; his siblings, Juanita Rumley, Robert Dean, and Loretta Brassell; along with a host of extended relatives and friends.
