Tariq "T-Da-Realest" LeVante Reynolds was born on July 21, 2003, in St. Paul, Minnesota. A radiant light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him, departed this world too soon on September 1, 2024, in Des Moines, Iowa, while selflessly protecting others—a true hero whose memory will forever echo in our hearts.
Tariq's journey began at Roosevelt High School, where he quickly became a cherished favorite among teachers and peers alike. A dedicated member of the marching band, he skillfully played the trombone, tuba, and sousaphone, using music to share his joy with the world. While in high school he was able to pursue a passion for aviation and airline mechanics until his health sadly took a turn. Tariq graduated with the Roosevelt High School class of 2022.
Beyond academics and music, Tariq's most remarkable qualities were his kindness and selflessness. He was a true sweetheart, a gentle soul who could brighten the darkest days with just a smile. Children adored him; his ability to uplift spirits and make even the most brooding frown transform into laughter was a gift. Known for his penchant for telling jokes, he was ever ready to entertain, leaving a trail of smiles behind him wherever he went.
Tariq was not just a son; he was a beloved brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. He is survived by his devoted mother, Verna Williams; father, Tobias Reynolds; siblings Zariyah Reynolds, Shalimar Harris, Angelica Roberts, Tobiuse Reynolds, and Maziah Turner; grandparents Charles Lee Sr., Linda Williams, and Esther Mitchell; and a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will carry his spirit within them, forever touched by his warmth.
The legacy of Tariq LeVante Reynolds will endure in the vibrant memories he created. He leaves behind a world that is a little bit brighter, a community that is a little bit kinder, and a family forever grateful for the moments shared with such a loving soul. His loved ones will cherish his memory, including the echoes of laughter, shadows of his joyous spirit, and the profound impact he made during his short time with us. Rest in peace, dear Tariq; your heart's melody will never be forgotten.
