Stephanie Marie Calhoun was born June 11, 1957 in Iowa City, Iowa to Stephen Lee Walton and Juanita J. Sayles Walton.
Stephanie was educated in the Des Moines Public Schools and was most recently employed by Hy-Vee Foods, where she worked for the past five years.
As a child she was baptized at Union Baptist Church and was a member of the Union Baptist Angel Choir. Stephanie recently rededicated her life to Christ. She had two passions, cooking and caring for others. She often combined them by cooking and then giving the food away. She was the epitome of kindness, selflessness and compassion. She always had a kind word and a hug for everyone she encountered. Her positive attitude was contagious, and so was that great, beautiful smile. She had a love for family and friends and did what ever she could to make everyone happy.
Stephanie passed away on August 26, 2014 at the age of 57. Preceding her in death were her husband, Calvin Calhoun; father, Stephen Walton; maternal grandparents, Neal and Celestine Sayles; paternal grandparents, Emory Walton and Constance "Toots" Brumfield; and her grandchildren, Olivia Glispie and Rasheed Gasaway.
