Shirley Gettemy

Shirley Ann (Clark) Gettemy was born October 21, 1960 in Clarendon, Arkansas to Littleton William Clark and Lillie Mae (Burns) Clark. Her family moved to Des Moines while she was still a youngster where she attended and graduated from North High School.



Shirley was a homemaker all her adult life. She was married to Jeffrey Gettemy for 34 years, and they made their home in Greensburg, PA.



Shirley loved the Lord and knew the word. Some of her most persuasive arguments were won with a scripture. She was a very artistic person and loved drawing and doing craft projects. Shirley made candles, soaps, and perfume. She loved to sew and could even upholster furniture. Shirley was also a great cook and baker. Her marble cakes were the best in town! Shirley was a quiet person, a bit of a homebody, who loved staying home listening to her old school music. She had old school values when it came to raising children, too. No nonsense, no back talk; but they knew she loved them dearly. She loved her grandchildren also, but the rules still applied.



On April 17, 2015 Shirley stepped from time into eternity at the age of 54 years. Waiting to welcome her to the other side were her parents, Littleton and Lillie Clark and her brother in law, Adam Franklin.



Left to cherish Shirley's memory are her husband, Jeffrey Gettemy, Sr.; her children, Gary Clark, Jeffrey Gettemy, Jr and daughter Jillian Gettemy; her grandchildren, Neveah Gettemy, James Brown, Jordan Clark and Gary Clark. She is also survived by her siblings, Brenda Hackey, William Clark, Sekou (Falecia) MTayari, Alf Freddie (Shelly) Clark, Mammie Douglas, Margaret (Jerry) Clark and Guy V. (Mary) Clark along with a host of extended family and many friends in Des Moines and Pennsylvania.



Shirley's quiet spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her
