Sherrill James

Sherrill Elaine James was born January 16, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lester and Mertilla Jefferson. She was educated in the Des Moines Public School System where she graduated from North High School and attended DMACC.

Sherrill retired from the Department of Motor Vehicles in January of 2002. She was also employed by General Electric Company until the office closed in 1986.

Sherrill was married to Terrance James for 38 years. They travelled together while he was in the Army. Sherrill loved being with her family, playing the piano, attending plays, community and sporting events. She loved her church family at Calvary Grace Tabernacle also.

Sherrill passed from this life on January 26, 2013 at the age of 72. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother, Franklin Jefferson; sister, Carolyn Brown and her son Tyrone James.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Terrance (Linda), Joseph (Dana), Kevin and Donnetta James and Toni (Breckney) Shaw; her sisters, Rachele Williams and Lavenia Stewart; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, cousins, church family and friends
