Sheley Palmore passed away on August 26, 2018. The family will be hosting a memorial service at Faith Tabernacle on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at 1:00 p.m.

Sheley Gene Porter was born to Homer Porter Jr. and Ernestine Wheeler on July 5, 1953, in Charleston MO. She was raised and attended Buena Vista High School in Saginaw, MI. She attended and graduated from CAC as a tool and die maker.

Later in life, Sheley and Virgil Palmore were united in marriage. Together, the family relocated to Indianapolis to build a life together. Virgil would pass away in 2001 and Sheley moved to Des Moines.

Sheley was a member of Faith Tabernacle, where she sang in the choir. She loved to sew; and was able to make anything from a pair of panties to wedding gowns. She was also a great baker. She was known as 'Sugar Sheley', not only for her personality, but for her caramel cakes and peanut butter cookies. Sheley loved talking to people and loved children also.

Sheley is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Ernestine Porter; husband, Virgil Palmore; daughter, La Tasha Porter; siblings, Easter White, Helen White, Homer Porter III; nephews, Dameon Baker and Aaron Porter; and her granddaughter, Ravonna Jones.

Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Ora L. Bryant, Mary Ann Jones, Irene Terry and Harry Porter; children, Taline Jones and Omari Porter; grandchildren, DeMarcus (Toya) Jones, Tramell Evans Jones, Hope Woods, Dalvon Woods, Sir Braden Smith, Geneine Jones, Caleb Jones, La Tasha Jones; special daughter, Tanika (Christopher) Okoiruele and a host of nieces, nephews, her Faith Tabernacle family, friends at Baker Creek Sr. Apartments extended family and friends
