Sara Serbro Yarlee

Sara Serbro Yarlee was born on January 1, 1938 to Gwah Yarlee and Jalie Tody in Liberia, West Africa. She received her formal education in Liberia and worked as a caregiver until she relocated to the United States. Sara settled in Des Moines, IA where she continued to work as a caregiver and raise her children.

Sara enjoyed the solitude of her home. It was there she enjoyed spending time with her family while watching her favorite African movies. Sara enjoyed cooking as well. Her palm butter and raspberry bread are family favorites.

Sara drifted into sweet slumber on July 30, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Agnes Yarlee and Cecelia Gbaba and a sister, Lucille Yarlee.

Sara leaves to cherish her memory her remaining children, Even, Alice and Rex; 24 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren other relatives and friends.Celebration of Life
