Ruben Lee Porter Obituary (1985

Ruben Lee Porter was born May 12, 1985 to Fred Ferguson and Gracie Ann Porter in Joliet, Illinois. His Auntie Felicia Woods took one look at him and declared him, "Her Baby". He attended and graduated from Joliet West High School. Ruben was united in marriage to Shantdoria Frazier. Together they were raising their 8 children. Ruben was a fun, loving, caring man. He had a huge generous heart and was always one to help someone out. He was the family comedian who enjoyed spending his time with family, especially his children. He had several hobbies; shopping was a big one. He was a man of style. He loved cowboy gear right down to the boots. Ruben loved watching cooking shows and trying recipes for his food truck, "Smothered Onions." He would spend his weekends playing poker with friends and generally having fun. Life was to be lived! Ruben is preceded in death by his father, Jesse Porter, Sr.; grandfather, Harvey Ferguson; great-grandmother, Annie Lee Jones, "Big Mama"; uncles, Jesse Porter and Novell Woods; nephew, Stevon Lee Dawson; cousin, Jesse "J J" Porter, Jr., and best friends, Giraldo Franchini and Grover DeShawn Barefield. Ruben is survived by his wife, Shantdoria Porter; his parents, Gracie Porter and Fred Ferguson; children, Ruben Porter Jr., RuNiya, Ruby, Promize, RuMariyah, Damion, Ribin, RuMarion, RuBella, and RuMonie Porter; his siblings, Jerry (Brittany) Porter, Natasha Porter, Barry Tillman and Savitra Porter; his mother-in-law, Stephanie Smith; father-in-law, Bennie Frazier; brothers-in-law, Gregory, Byron, Haywood and Stephen; sister-in-law, Lil Stephanie; Godchildren, Bernnard Jr. and Giraldo, Jr. and a host of extended family members and friends. *This service will be made available via Facebook Live on the Henderson's Highland Park Funeral Home's Facebook page (@hendersonsfuneralhome) on Saturday, April 23, 2022 beginning at 12pm.
