Ronald Sharp

Ronald passed away on March 29, 2023. A Private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ronald Keith Sharp, 67, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on March 29th, 2023.

Ron is survived by his children Tisha Hyter (Michael), Carole Barrow (Rory O’Brien), Jason Sharp (Lena), Ryan Sharp (Abigail), and Jordan Sharp (Sarah) and stepdaughter Rita Ann Debono. He will be forever remembered by his brother Larry Sharp (Lizz); sisters Phylis Ann Sharp Hall, Willa Mae Palmer and Leane Banks; his nine grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; and his many friends and loving members of his extended family.

Ron is predeceased by his second wife of 23 years, Mary Carmen Sharp; his parents, William Sharp, Sr. and Edith Boldridge Sharp; siblings Mary Alice Powell, Jacob Wesley Hunter, and William Sharp, Jr.; and step-grandson, Donovan Hyter.

Ron worked most of his career at The Boeing Company, starting on the assembly line and eventually working his way up to manager of supplier quality and development for integrated defense systems in the Americas West, Europe and Asia/Pacific regions, the position from which he retired in 2016. Ron also worked for a time as an Engineer for Honeywell.

Ron is remembered as a “renaissance man.” Born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, he made a name for himself as a star athlete at Des Moines Technical High School, participating in the Junior Olympics and Drake Relays. He fielded several track and football scholarships before opting to attend Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa to remain close to home and his first born, Tisha Hyter. Though Ron paused his education after his first year at Graceland, he finished his studies at the University of La Verne from which he graduated with his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering. Ron was an avid fisher man who loved being on the water and a seasoned globetrotter who set up residence in countries such as Belgium, London, and Turkey. Stories even have it that he was a great dancer.

The celebration of Ron’s life will be held on July 22, 2023, the day before what would have been his 68th birthday. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in his honor to the National Society of Black Engineers by texting NSBE to 50155.
