Roger Freel, 78, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on April 24, 2024. He was born on January 24, 1946 to James and Norma Stewart (Collins) in Des Moines, Iowa. Roger was loving, caring and very stubborn and set in his own ways, but he would help anyone. He was a wonderful dad, husband, grandpa and great-grandpa. He loved his family wholeheartedly. Roger enjoyed spending time with his family, going fishing, working on cars, mopeds and lawnmowers. He loved watching old time movies and shows like "The Rifleman" and "Bonanza." Roger loved going to the fair every year with his wife and sometimes with other family members. He also served in the military and became an Army Veteran.
Roger is survived by his siblings, Steven Stewart, Joe (Ruth) Stewart and Linda Kirkman; his children, Tina Fessler, Jeff Freel, Angela (Jeff) Lovell; grandchildren, Emily (Cody) Oliver, Miranda Monroe, Brian (Shay) Guill II; great-grandchildren, Malikai, Annabeth, Olivia Oliver, Brian (Lil' B), and Athena; brother-in-law, Brent Tharp; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be taking place on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Highland Memorial Garden.
