Robson Mushambi

Dr. Robson Mushambi, 68, passed away at his residence on August 15, 2016.

Born in Umtali, Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), Dr. Mushambi completed his primary education in Zimbabwe and furthered his education by attending Umatali Teacher Training College in Mutare, Zimbabwe. After obtaining his teaching certification he attended the University College of Swaziland before his immigration to the United States. He transferred his studies to Iowa State University where he attained a bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education, a Master of Science in (Adult) Education and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Education with a minor in Technology and Social Change.

As you may have guessed, education was very important in Robson's life. Not only did he love learning, but he loved to teach. He took a special interest in young people. Robson loved to interact and encourage students to reach their full potential by educating themselves. After his retirement from teaching, he was the Graduate Residence hall advisor. He was responsible for providing counseling and referrals for students need assistance related to academics, personal and spiritual development.

Dr. Mushambi was also very active in his Christian walk. He was baptized May 11, 2002 at the Ames Seventh Day Adventist Church and later joined Philadelphia SDA in 2010. He served as an Elder and Sabbath School Teacher. He visited several churches in Ames, Des Moines and Nevada. When Dr. Mushambi wasn't teaching or working he enjoyed gardening.

Dr. Mushambi was preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Martha Mushambi; his siblings, Gertrude, William, Mary and Susan Mushambi.

He is survived by his daughter, Rufaro Musambi and his siblings, Stella, Winnie, Cecilia, Lois, Charles and Robert; along with a host of church family and friends.
