Robert Lee Watson Jr. was born May 12, 1944 to Robert Lee Watson and Elizabeth (Thompson) Watson in Sardis, Mississippi. He attended Macedonian High School in Mississippi and moved to Des Moines shortly after graduation. He was employed by Economy Forms as a material handler for most of his career.
Robert had many hobbies. He liked to watch basketball, especially when the Lakers were playing. He was passionate about music. He played guitar, was a member of a band, and was a former DJ for KUCB. He played with BB King, Bobby Blue Bland and other well known artists. He was known as the "Blues Man". His guitar was like BB Kings Lucille to him. He was a good cook, especially when it came to breakfast food. He loved to go fishing and collected hundreds of CDs, but above all he was a dedicated family man. He would often travel to Minnesota to see the kids and host a family BBQs.
Robert passed away May 20, 2022. Preceding him in death are his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Watson; and his siblings, Corine Jeter, Sarah Bush, and Terry Watson.
He is survived by his children, Angela Ann (Micheal) Glaspie, Maureena Mae (Wallice) Summers, Robert Lee Watson, III, and Carolyn Ann Watson; siblings, Loisteen Ballentine, Mary Watson, James Watson, Willie Watson, Florence Cephas (Memphis, TN), Eunice (Jerry) Jefferson, Darnell (Bridgett) Watson, Sr. (Chicago, IL), Melvin Watson (Chicago, IL), Alexis Bell (Atlanta, GA), and Lucy (Milton) Titus (Sardis, MS); his 12 grandchildren; his 5 great grand children; and a host of extended family and friends.Visitation
