Robert Steven Winfrey

Robert Steven Winfrey was born on June 28, 1954 to Albert and Mary Frances (Quinn) Winfrey in Iowa. He was educated in the Des Moines Public Schools.

He received a degree in drug therapy. He particularly focused on his passion to help youth but he helped many individuals that were incarcerated as well. He received many different certifications throughout his life. He loved woodwork and working with leather. He was always happy and enjoyed walking, dancing, fishing and singing.

With his family at his side, on July 28, 2017, Robert transitioned from time to eternity when he answered his Saviors call to rest after a short battle with liver cancer. He passed away at Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown, Iowa. Preceding Robert in death were his parents: Albert (Doris) Winfrey and Mary (Charles) DeVan; his brothers, Alvin and Tony Winfrey; and his grandparents: Hershel and Grace Quinn and Jenny James.

Left to cherish Roberts memory are his siblings: Elizabeth Cavil, Ronald Winfrey, Joyce Winfrey, Jenny Winfrey, Hershel Davis, Paula Winfrey and Rico Winfrey; his aunts and uncles, Pastor John (Betty) Quinn, Patty Joe Wells, Allene Meadors, Zella (Robert) Williams, Nate Quinn; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and good friends.

The family of Robert S. Winfrey would like to acknowledge the Iowa Parole Board, Dr. Timothy Swinton and staff of Iowa River Hospice and Suncrest Hospice for their exceptional care, Karen Cruz, Teresa Otoole, Terry Sallis, Bobby Cage, Louis Branch, his cousin, Freddy M. Clark, Vickie Long for his hat and to all others for your support and help along the way. Thank you.
