Robert Smith, Jr.

Robert L. Smith, Jr. passed away July 25, 2021.

Robert Louis Smith Jr. was born on August 23, 1965 to Robert and Jeannine (Freeman) Smith Sr., in Des Moines, IA. Robert was educated in the Des Moines School District and graduated from Tech High School. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted into the service and served until he was honorably discharged.

After returning home from the service, he worked several jobs throughout his life. He spent most of his career working for the Des Moines Public School District as a bus driver and as a Transportation Liaison. When not at work Robert enjoyed relaxing and having a good time. He was always up for a game of cards, dominoes or pool. He also had a love for good music like Luther Vandross or Gerald Levert. If he was really feeling it, hed spend an evening doing karaoke. A jokester, Robert had a great sense of humor and could brighten the darkest mood with his playful spirit. He would also dabbled in the kitchen with his specialties of lasagna and meatloaf.

Robert passed away on July 25, 2021. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanine Smith; sister, JeanetteHalverson Smith and grandparents, William and Jeanette Freeman.

Roberts memory will live on through his children,Janeisha Smith, Robert Smith III, Andrea Smith andMarlin McMurray; grandchildren, Tseday McMurray,DeSante McMurray, Keyvaughn McMurray, Lorenzo McMurray, Makira McMurray and AubreyAnna Smith; father, Robert Smith Sr., siblings, Earl and James aka Jai grandmother, Queen E. Dennis and a host of other relatives and friends.

*CDC guidelines will be followed with masks required for individuals who have not been fully vaccinated. Social Distancing will be strongly encouraged.
