Robert Lee Pate, Sr. was born on February 25, 1951 to Robert Pate and Elizabeth (Windsor) Naylor in Des Moines, IA.
Robert attended North High School where he graduated and attended Job Corps soon after. While attending Job Corps he decided to join the Navy in 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1973. Once out of the military he became a roofer most of his life and worked for Firestone as a tire builder for 5 years before retiring.
Robert was a very fair and balanced man, while being in the navy he enjoyed traveling and continued after he was discharged. As a young man Robert enjoyed playing and watching basketball, playing cards but the one thing he loved the most was to draw. He was a fantastic artist, he could paint or draw and his work was a masterpiece when it was finished. God had truly given him a gift. He also loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his children and grandchildren and his favorite cousin Kenneth Payne. His family and friends loved his cooking, meat loaf and vegetables were his best dish. But the one thing that remained a constant in his life was his family.
Robert was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on August 5, 2016 he was 65 years old. He will be welcomed by his twin brother; Edward L Pate, brother; Armel Pate, sister; Elizabeth Pate and special friend Lena Gross.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons; Robert Jr, Edward James Young and Tyree Lee Young, two daughters; favorite cousins; Kenneth Pate, Arvel Windsor, Wallace Kipper and three grandchildren; Ta'Jhon Young, Precious M Pate, and Princess M Pate.
