Richard Clyde Collier, Jr. was born in Des Moines, IA on September 24, 1954 to Richard Collier, Sr. and Jacqueline (Dixon) Collier. He was a lifelong resident of Des Moines attending and graduating from North High School. Richard loved all sports an played basketball, football and ran track while at North.

Richard or 'Ricky' as he was known by friends was an extraordinary cook. He could cook anything. He was a chef at the Des Moines Golf and Country Club for awhile. His fried chicken would leave you wanting more. He was a collector of antiques and other things. And he would move his collections to his home on his beloved bicycle. Richard love old school music and would sing along to the Delphonics and other groups. Richard was the big brother and was a big help to his mother in providing for his younger siblings. And he was his Grandma's favorite.

Rick loved children and helped to raise his wife, Shelly's children prior to her death. He later helped to raise his life partner, Brenda's children, also.

May 17, 2018 Richard stepped from time into eternity. He was 63 Years old. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shelley Holland Collier; father, Richard Collier Sr. and his brothers, David and Barry. He is survived by his mother, Jacqueline Collier; grandmother, Mary Powell; aunts, Rosemary and Melva, Life partner, Brenda Woods; siblings, Biren, Mark, Deartra, Marne'e, Irwin and Jacqueline 'Sue', the Collier family; Shelly's children, Marlin, Robert Jr and Marla; Brenda's children, Lakesha, Jesse, Terrence, Stacy and Marvin and a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service was held at Drake Park.
