Rev. Ernest White

Ernest Wheat White was born November 9, 1931 in Strong, Arkansas to John and Roberta Thomas White.

Pastor White received his divine vocation at an early age when he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. He didn't receive a formal education, preferring to be a self made man. He learned from life and from God what he needed to know to help himself, help his family and help God's people. He was always concerned about "the least of these." Pastor White loved people and supported his family by serving people as a sales person for Luke Magazine, The Des Moines Register and as a counselor at Creative Visions, Inc.

Pastor White was always on the go, but when he took time for himself he loved to go fishing and camping. He won many sales awards and was voted "Pastor of the Year" in 1997. He loved traveling and spending time with his many grandchildren. Pastor White loved music and telling a good joke.

On April 2, 2014, Pastor heard the Master call his name. He answered and left for a reunion in Heaven with his parents, John and Roberta White; his sisters, Angel Lee Bradley and Lillie Ruth Tatum; his brother, Prezell White; his daughter, Lisa White and sons, Ernest L. White and Ronnie Brown. He is also preceded in death by his grandson, Stephen Antjuan Carter.

Pastor White is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jonnie Bell White; his sons, Jackie Brown, Calvin Brown, David White and Curtis White of Des Moines, IA, Paul (Joyce) White of Atlanta, GA, Cliff (Shelia) White and Tony White of Bloomington, IL, Mark White of Des Moines, IA, Timothy (Mary) White of Nixa, MO; his daughters Barbara Brwon, Margret Norwood, Debra (Steve ) Carter, Tonja (Orbie) Bogg, Kiendrea (Luster) Phafil, Kayla Thompson, Balah Rushing, and RayShone Rushing all of Des Moines, IA; and Jeff Madison and Neshawn Cleghorn.
