Regena Austin

Regena (Beebe) Sue Austin was born on January 1, 1958 in Rock Island, IL. She was the oldest daughter of James E. Sr. and Doris (Marshall) Taylor.

Regena was educated in the Rock Island Public School District and graduated from Rocky High School. She would continue her education at Black Hawk College in Moline, IL and Kingsway Bible College.

Regena was blessed with three sons: Tyson, William and Tyrell Sr. In 1986, she moved her family to Des Moines, IA. Here she met and married Deacon LeVan Lowery. The two would enjoy marriage until his death in 2006. She would later meet Jerome Austin. The two found that they enjoyed each others company and two became one.

At a young age Regena would confess Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. A faithful servant, Regena was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She served the Lord, his church and his people in many different capacities including Sunday School Superintendent, sang in the choir, Mission Board, Deaconess Board. She also served as an officer in the Iowa Missionary and Educational Baptist State Convention.

A life long career woman, Regena worked at the Department of Social Security Administration for 24 years until she retired. After retiring, she accepted a position with Hope Ministries in Pleasant Hill, IA.

Regena loved her family; natural and church. She was a very strong woman. In her younger years, she was a single mother who raised three sons and continued her education while working. She encouraged her sons to keep God in their lives. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, attending their sports events and making sure they attended church. Regena was always there to give advice and support to her children and siblings. She also enjoyed traveling back home to Rock Island to spend time with her family. She loved photography, sewing and thrift shopping. A 'Fashionista' at heart, Regena was always dressed to a tee. You would rarely see her in jeans or tennis shoes. She also loved her gold/bronze nail polish. Loved by all, she had a smile that would bring happiness to your day and a spirit that brought joy to the world.

On May 3, 2015, Regena answered the Master's call and stepped out of labor into reward. She was greeted on the other side by her parents; James Sr. and Doris, her brothers; James Jr., Charles and William Taylor.
