Raoulyn Francine Perry was born in Des Moines, Iowa on April 28, 1952 to the late Ralph F. Parker and Mary F. (Villanueva) Parker.
Raoulyn was a lifelong resident of Des Moines and a graduate of Des Moines Technical High School. Raoulyn was employed by Qwest for over 30 years before her retirement.
Raoulyn had several "loves" in her life. She loved God and served Him faithfully at Union Baptist Church. As a young woman, she sang in the youth choir, where she made lifelong friends. Later, she served in the Ministry of Help (in the kitchen).
Raoulyn loved Greg Perry. They were married 40 years ago. To that union two children were born; Raquel and Ricardo. She loved her grandchildren and family and was happiest when spending time with them. Raoulyn loved shopping; things for the house, the kids or friends - it didn't matter, she just loved to shop. Finding a bargain in animal print (especially leopard) meant it was a good day. She was a proud Mary Kay Senior Consultant and avid mall walker. Raoulyn loved the Order of the Eastern Star. She served as the Past Grand Worthy Matron of the State of Iowa and, of Princess Zorah #10, Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliates in several capacities for over 35 years. Raoulyn loved life and loved people. Never one to speak ill of others, she was a genuinely nice person to everyone she met.
Early on the morning of November 2, 2013, Raoulyn answered the Master's call to rest at 61 years old. Raoulyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Mary Parker and her brother, Harry.
Left to cherish Raoulyn's memory are her husband, Greg B. Perry; her children, Raquel L. Perry-Mbuthia and Ricardo (Maggie) L. Perry; her grandchildren, Anessa L. Perry, Azeria R. Mbuthia, Justin P. Mbuthia, Ricardo G. Perry and Rafeal L. Perry, her sister, Betty L. McAliley, her OES sisters, extended family and many, many friends.
She will be greatly missed by those whose life she touched.
