Ramona Burns

Ramona Dell Burns was born September 12, 1959 in Des Moines, Iowa to ThomasRaymond Burns and LaTrice (Curtis) Burns.

Ramona was educated in the Des Moines Public School system, where she graduated from Des Moines Tech High School. She later attended Grandview College for nursing classes. Along the way she decided that teaching children was her calling. She taught all the grades and at several schools before her retirement.

Ramona was married to Harris Dantzler. Two sons, Curtis and George, were born to this union. Sadly, Harris would precede Ramona in death.

Ramona attended Union Baptist Church as a youngster. She sang in the choir and was part of the Mission. Ramona loved to sing, write poems and travel with her sons and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook who specialized in spaghetti. She loved playing cards and listening to Old School music.

August 6, 2021 Ramona stepped from time into eternity. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harris; her father, Thomas; aunts, Betty Irwin Bell, Mamie and Shelley Fox; and uncle, Otis Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Curtis and George Dantzler; her mother, LaTicia Burns;grandson, Romeo Dantzler; bonus children Elijah Dantzler, Trina Bell Williams, Harris Dantzler Jr; a host of aunts, uncles, adopted grandchildren and God parents, Pearline and Howell Cosby.
