Preston Allen Sellers passed away on February 27, 2023.
A Memorial service is being planned for 1pm on Saturday, March 18th, at Corinthian Baptist Church.
Preston Allen Sellers was born in Des Moines, Iowa on December 7th, 1945 to Oscar Peavy and Iona Sellers. He received his secondary education through the Des Moines Public School System. Preston graduated from North High School in Des Moines.
Preston worked many years professionally as a security officer. He was small in statue but had enough sway to keep folks off him. Preston also worked professionally as a cook.
Preston was a member of Corinthian Baptist Church. He loved attending church and participating in fellowship.
Preston Sellers was a chess master. He would teach others to play just to beat them in a game. He was also a huge sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Chiefs football games and basketball games. Preston was very funny, much like a jokester and enjoyed making people feel comfortable. He loved to dress well and listen to jazz and soul music. He liked to sing and as a child, he paid his family members to be a live audience for him. Preston loved to play the game, “Dozens.” He also enjoyed visiting Phoenix.
On February 27th, 2023, Preston Allen Sellers passed away. He preceded in death by his parents; Iona Sellers and Oscar Peavy; siblings, Grandal Sellers, Rodney Sellers and Charlene Barker; grandparents, Walter Sellers and Leona Buford Sellers; Aunt Ethel Ackiss, Shelly Collier, and Alfonso and Renee Caril.
Those who are left to cherish him in memory are daughters Me’ Lisa Sellers and Janel Sellers; niece-daughter, Tionda Sellers-Harris; siblings, Glen Sellers, Esther Sellers-Nash, Lacinda McClendon, Kathy Sellers; sister-in-law, Lisa Taylor Sellers and a host of nieces, nephews that were like children, cousins, and extended family and friends.
