Paula Clayborne

September 29, 1943 — March 31, 2024

Paula Clayborne was born on September 29, 1943 to Melvin and  Gertrude (James) Murray in Des Moines, Iowa.  She was  educated through the Des Moines Public School System, where she attended Willard Elementary, Amos Jr. High and graduated from North High School. 

Paula married Raymond Clayborne after high school and began to live a life of her husband. She was once a cross guard and housekeeper but retired as a Maintenance worker for Oakridge Apartment Complex. 

Paula had done some traveling throughout her lifetime. She moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1988; then to Fresno, California in 1994. Paula lived in the Bakersfield area for a while before she moved back to Des Moines in 2003. 

Paula enjoyed making popcorn balls when she could. She loved to cook! Paula spent most of her days hanging out with the family and spending quality time with the grandkids. She also made sure to travel when she could. 

Paula passed away and gone home to the Lord on Sunday, March 31, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Gertrude Murray; husband Raymond Clayborne Sr.; son Raymond Clayborne Jr.; siblings, Gene Murray, Arthur Murray, Anthony Murray, Dale Murray, Jackie Murray, Larry Murray, Jerry Murray, Eggar Murray, Debbie Murray, Louise Murray, Helen Murray and Juanita Murray. 

Paula has left numerous loved ones to cherish her in memory; They are her children, Michelle Strickland, Tony Clayborne, Darnelle Clayborne and Ricky Eubanks; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Jo Murray and Connie Ivy; special nephew, “West Coast;” step-daughter, Tracy Spivey; and a host of many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. 

Services will no longer be held for Ms. Paula Clayborne.
