Patricia Marie Sparks

Patricia Marie (Hammes) Sparks was born March 1, 1938 in the town of Pocahontas, Iowa to Leo Peter Hammes and Marguerite Ann (Harrington ) Hammes. She completed her primary education at Corpus Christie High school in Ft. Dodge, Iowa in 1956.

Patricia graduated from the Mercy School of Nursing in 1960. She was employed by Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines until her retirement in 2000.

In 1960 Patricia married the love of her life, Jerry Alexander Sparks. They were blessed with two children, Jeffrey and Paula. They attended All Saints Catholic Church where Patricia was a member for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Rosary Society.

Patricia was generally quiet and practical. She liked to play solitare and put together jigsaw puzzles. She took a turn at gardening one year with a friend; and tried her hand at being a Mary Kay distributor. She was an avid reader and also did some crocheting. Patricia especially liked going to Las Vegas and trying her luck at the slot machines or card games, and she was pretty lucky too! She loved spending time with the grandchildren.

Patricia passed away, peacefully on December 20, 2017. She was 79 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Marguerite Hammes. Left to cherish Patricias memory are her husband of 54 years, Jerry Sparks; her children, Jeffrey Sparks, Sr and Paula Sparks; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Jr., Shannon, Sophia and Olivia; the great grandchilren, Lilliana, Juan and Diego; her brother, Jerry (Peg) Hammes; sister in law, Daleth (Joe) Pullano; brother in law, Harry (Sharon) Sparks; sister in law, Diane Sparks; brother in law, Charlie Sparks and many other friends and family.
