Patricia Hayter

Patricia Ann Hayter was born on June 13, 1938 in Des Moines, Iowa. Her parents, Luther Byron and Bertie Thurston-Hayter raised a great family with ongoing memories and values that will never be forgotten. She was one of five children.

Patricia completed her general studies at the Des Moines Technical High School. Furthering her education she attended Drake University, seeking direction for a long term career path.

Most of Patricias working years she was a private secretary for an executive director at John Deer Corporate. Prior to that, she was an employee of the San Francisco Chronicle and was a survivor of the earthquake in 1989. She was an expert in the office and if you can think of basic capabilities of an advanced administrative assistant Patricia could do that and much more. No one could run the office or the phones like her. Being well rounded she was also employed at the Des Moines Register where she later retired.

In 1958 Patricia married the love of her life, Pernell Jackson. To this union two sons were born, Craig and Keith.

She was a great lover of her immediate and extended families and beyond. Her compassion and sweet heart reached many. If you needed it and she had it, it was yours!

Growing up, Patricia attended the Corinthian Baptist Church in Des Moines, Iowa.

Anything Egyptian, she was a big fan of it. She was impressed by its history and grand presentation. She was able to visit King Tuts Exhibit in the city where it was at the time. She enjoyed theatrical projects, playing piano, and traveling. Patricia was always proud of her typing skills. She was able to type over 70 words per minute. She was a firm believer that everyone should be able to type. If not at advanced, she believed every one should at least have basic typing skills. The Gregg Shorthand Manuel helped her to be even more advanced with typing and expedient communication efforts.

Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Her family LOVED her!

On June 15, 2017 Patricia Ann Hayter transitioned from life here on earth into eternity. As she entered into a peaceful rest she was surrounded by close family.

She was preceded in death by her two sons: Keith and Craig Jackson; parents: Luther and Bertie Thurston-Hayter; siblings: Gretchen Johnson, Byron Hayter and Kevin Hayter; maternal grandparents: Bert and Minnie Thurston; and fraternal grandparents: Luther and Birdie Hayter.

Patricias memories will forever live through her sister: Tamarra Hayter-Bonwell; grandchildren: Christopher and Jennifer Jackson, four great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends. Interment
