Patee Jones

Patee Jones was born on December 11, 1953 to Henry and Myrtle (Ferrow) Gipson. She spent her early years obtaining an education in the Mississippi School System. Patee had moved to Des Moines afterwards. She married her love and was blessed with children throughout the years. Patee established a career in safety as School Crossing Guard with the City of Des Moines for many years. She was not only known for her career but also for her role as a pastor at Christs Steps to Salvation Church, where she selflessly guided and comforted her congregation.
 
Patee had a heart of gold and a zest for life that was evident to all who knew her. She found joy in simple pleasures like fishing and gardening, activities that allowed her to connect with nature and find solace. Her kind spirit extended beyond hobbies as she was always willing to lend a helping hand. Patee’s cooking is also something not to forget. 
 
Patee passed away on May 9, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Myrtle Gipson; son Mack Gipson; brother, Lester Gipson; grandsons, Johntraill and Shaekuir Gipson; 3 granddaughters and 4 more grandsons.  

Patee was a devoted family woman. She is survived by her loving husband, Gordon Jones, and a large, blended family including children Earlene Gipson, Tomeka Gipson, Otto Gipson, Oscar Gipson, and Lawrence Gipson. Her legacy further continues through stepchildren Derrick Peoples, Michell Craig, Latorea Craig, Jennifer Craig, Gordon Jr. Craig; grandchildren, Demarkieona, Demarko Jr. and Leeaisha Walker, Deontaye Owens; Jaybreon Cason, Torional Tolson,  Auburne, Aaliyah, Herc, Sedorion, Jordainian, Oliver, Olivia and Camari, Craidarius, Ronaisha, Blessed, David Gipson, Symphanie Gipson, Tae'Quan Gipson, Alishiana and Aniyah Weaver and Demarion Palmer and Lakina Williams along with a host of  great grandchildren and extended family and friends.
