Pastor Phillip Henry Spivie, Sr.

Pastor Phillip H. Spivie, Sr. was born July 16, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri to Matthew Marcel Spivie and Rebecca (Tindrell) Spivie Moore. He was a loving father to four blessed children.

Upon graduating from Tech High School, Pastor Spivie, Sr. was drafted into the military where he did a tour in Korea prior to discharging. Pastor Spivie, Sr. pursued a trade in carpentry and construction after his discharge, and took apprenticeship under influential advisors who assisted him in honing his craft. Pastor Spivie Sr. accepted JESUS CHRIST as his personal LORD and SAVIOR under the leadership of his late uncle the Honorable Bishop Everett Tindrell (Mildred) and became a youth pastor at New Jerusalem Church. Years later he became the Assistant Pastor at New Jerusalem under the late uncle Rev. Phillip O. Tindrell (Ernestine), but the yearning and desire to do a work for the LORD in helping others find their way led him to found The Helpers Ministry.

Pastor Spivie Sr. loved whittling wood. With this craft, Pastor Spivie, Sr. found random wood and created beautiful canes with amazing craftsmanship and other works of art. Utilizing his trade in carpentry and construction, Pastor Spivie, Sr. built, remodeled, and assisted in blueprinting many works here in Des Moines and abroad. Pastor Spivie, Sr.s workmanship can be seen, to this day, in many local churches and homes. The Helpers Ministry had the focus of helping those get their visions manifested without the high expense of competing companies, as well as proselyting to those who others rejected. Pastor Spivie, Sr. helped everyone indiscriminately. He assisted family members and strangers alike, by utilizing his residence to house those in need. He gave his last dime to help others even if it placed him in a predicament, for he understood that he was a sojourner here and earth was not his home.

After years in the ministry of helping others Pastor Spivie, Sr. transitioned from this life to his permeant estate, a mansion made for him alone; a mansion not made by mans hands, on Sunday February 13, 2022 at Broadlawns Medical Center Des Moines, IA.

Pastor Phillip H. Spivie, Sr. was preceded in death by his Father Matthew Marcel Spivie, Mother Rebecca (Tindrell) Spivie Moore; Daughter Tymeka D Love; Sisters Patricia “T.C”, Marjorie “Jennie”, Monica, and Dolly; Brothers Matthew and Joseph; Nephew Akamimo. He leaves behind a surviving sibling Mark C. Davis.

Pastor Spivie, Sr. legacy continues through Felica Benn, Phillip H. Spivie Jr. (Lisa), and Immanuel Spivie. Grandfather to Davonte, Jamisha, Demetrius, Chana, Chaela, Zedekiah, Ahzareah. Great Grandfather to Kyree and Nina. Pastor Spivie Sr. was a father figure to a host of nieces and nephews among those are Tierra Gunn and Jessica Williams.
