Norvillene Gordan Mash went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 9,2024 at the age of 95, after a short stay in Iowa Methodist Unity Point Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born in Red Oak, Iowa on August 27,1928 to her proud parents Mary Gertrude (Jones) and Norville Earl Tillman.
Norvillene moved from Perry, IA to Des Moines at age 12. She graduated from North High School, attended Des Moines Area Community College where she trained to become a Surgical Technician, and worked in surgery at Iowa Methodist Hospital for many years. After retiring, she went to work in the Neurosurgery office and later served as a volunteer. She believed in work; some described her as a workaholic.
As a Daughter of Rose Tempe #33, Norvillene served as P.G.D.R., a lifetime position in the Rose Temple #33. She also served in the Antler Guard, as treasurer and faithfully on the annual golf tournament and education fund raising committees. She and her father travelled the United States together to attend Elk conventions which ignited her passion for travel.
She was fun loving and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, oftentimes, while sitting on her front porch watching the rabbits and squirrels play out in the yard. Norvillene was the neighborhood watch person for her block. She was 95 and still dancing, especially to the electric slide. Taking pictures of the unsuspecting person was another gift she possessed. Norvillene loved watching westerns, Chicago Med, Fire and PD marathons. Cooking turkey and dressing, spaghetti and oxtail tail soup were a few of her specialties.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marietta Hall, sons, George Edward Jefferson, Robert (Topper) Mash, and Charles Wesley Mash, daughter, Robyn Louise Mash, and son in law, William Robinson.
Norvillene is survived by her remaining children William Stewart, Patricia Lang, Winfred (JaDeane) Stewart, Georgeann Robinson, Bobbie Carol (Calvin) Fields, Norvillene (Muffie) Hawkins, and daughter in law, Tina Mash. Grandchildren Terence, William, Ali, Kaneka and Danielle Stewart, Marla Turner, Jamyle Lang, Robert Rabon Kimberly Davis, William JR. and Tyrae Robinson, Calvin JR and Robert Fields, Maria Zinkevichius, Jacqueline and Charles Mash JR, Francesca Morson, Jarin, Drew, Avery, Dearll, Elyse and Maya Hawkins, Beth and Orlando Smart; 25 Great Grandchildren, 70 plus Great Great Grandchildren.
