Norma Charlene Clark

Norma Charlene (Watkins) Clark was the eldest daughter born to Charles Edward Watkins and Juanita Steward Watkins on June 22, 1940, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Norma was educated in the Des Moines Public School system, graduating from North High School. Norma furthered her education and eventually served as a Teacher Associate in the same school system. Norma was a life member of DMEA, the National Teacher's Association and the Lupus Chapter of Iowa. She worked in health care and education until her retirement after 33 years of service. Not one to sit around, Norma volunteered for several organizations. She loved working with the residents of Westley Community and RSVP. Norma was active in her church and served as a Sunday School teacher, and on the Usher board as well as chairing several committees.

When Norma had some free time, she loved reading her bible, working word puzzles and even made her own greeting cards. Her new accomplishment was learning to work her tablet. But the greatest love of all were her children and grandchildren. Norma was a loving, patient and giving mother, 'GG' and 'Grammy'. She will always be remembered for her special warm hugs!

On April 24, 2016, Norma peacefully slipped away to be with Jesus. She was 75 years old. Waiting to give her a hug on the other side were her parents, Charles and Juanita Watkins.

Norma's memory will be cherished by her children, Michael (Andra) Clark, Dena Clark-Bell and Gina (Elroy) Clark-Jefferson; her special friend, Leonard Perry; her siblings, Vera Taylor, Billie (Dennis) Martin, Deborah Brown, Ronald Watkins, Neil (Dorinda) Brown, Norman (Elois) Hall and Hazel Whiset; grandchildren, Ebone`, Antawun, Tawunesha, Niguel, D'Karius, and Myles; her great grandchildren, Natalie, Rashad Jr, Gianna and Kassidie along with a host of friends.

Norma had some challenges in the last few years, but she faced them all with a calm attitude, strong faith and her trademark smile. She was the calm oasis in the midst of chaos. Norma will forever be missed by those whose life she touched.
