Nora Goodwin

Nora Louise Goodwin was born July 31, 1948 in Hannibal, Missouri to Charles Kitchen and Anna Sledd. Nora attended High School in Missouri and continued her education, earning her Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA).

Nora spent most of her career working as a CNA in nursing homes. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Missouri.

As an adult, Nora loved baseball. Her favorite position was playing shortstop. Nora was a great cook and she could fry anything and make it taste good. She was known in the neighborhood as the best mom and her home was a gathering place for all the kids. Nora cherished her children. Nora could sing and dance. She loved singing along to Mary Js music. Nora had a unique fashion and creative fashion sense. She made doll clothes from socks, and matching headbands from the ends of her shirts. She had many hobbies; puzzles, playing cards, dominoes and cribbage. Nora was funny and outgoing; she loved her parakeets (who she trained to walk outside on a leash) and dogs. She was a genuine person. You had to accept her for who she was and she accepted you. No nonsense though.

Nora passed away April 22, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna Kitchen, her son, Wayne Sledd, her brothers, Everette and Howard Kitchen, and grandson, Trey Shawn Kitchen.

Nora is survived by her children, Everette Abbey, Tanya and Terry Kitchen, Christopher Sledd, George Goodwin and Brandon Goodwin; sister, Cynthia Williams; grandchildren, Nikita, Ryan, Ashley, Cesean, Victoria, Terrance, Aiden, LaTonua, Lily, Christopher Jr., Christin, Ayanna, Cristal, Chrisjhanae, Jaquan, Kream, Wayniqua, Gemiere, Kiara, Geavonni, Tyrina, Breanna, Yakovion, Branyiah, Briaryanna, Jaelyn, Kingston, Princeton, 28 great-grandchildren; life long partner, George Stapleton; pets, Diamond, Emerald, Navier along with a host of cousins and other relatives.Graveside Service
