Nicholas Manuel Peterson

Nicholas Manuel Peterson, also known as “Petey,” was born on August 17, 1985, in Des Moines, Iowa to Elisa and Randy Peterson. He was raised and grew up in Des Moines where he graduated from Saydel High School in 2004.

Petey gained lots of experience in different career fields. In high school, he worked in construction. Over the years, Petey was a cook at several restaurants. He also worked with his father-in-law and uncle as a siding installer.

Petey married the love of his life, Erica Marie, on October 22, 2016. They had three children together: Aubree Nicole, Oaklee Madeline and Raiden Ray.

Petey enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping with family. He was passionate about fireworks. The bigger and louder the bang, the better! Petey made many YouTube videos. He would put on a great show for his friends and family on the 4th of July. Petey’s most favorite thing of all was spending time with his family. He loved his wife and kids more than anything else. Petey was loved by everyone, and he was always there for anyone who asked for help. Petey was someone who you could always trust and count on.

Those left to honor and cherished Petey in memory are his wife, Erica; three children, Aubree, Oaklee and Raiden; father and mother-in-law, Shane and Patty Austin; brothers-in-law, Zach Smith and Dustin Austin; sister, Sophie Laughman; brother, Issac; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Petey passed away on December 7, 2024. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elisa Peterson; sister, Nicole Peterson; grandparents and many friends.
