Myrtle Marie Jones was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Mr. Jackson and Ms. Billie Marie (Allen) Fishback May 17, 1940. Myrtle spent her childhood and early adult life in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Lincoln High in Kansas City and later moved to Des Moines, Iowa.
Myrtle retired from Principal Financial after 28 years of services. She continued her relationship with her Principal coworkers by having lunch with them periodically. Myrtle loved shopping, traveling, music, comedic movies, eating snacks, and she herself was a good cook. She liked keeping busy. Even though she didnt drive, Myrtle was all over the city at events and didnt miss a chance for a trip out of town.
Myrtle was a member of Bethel AME Church where she served on the Usher Board faithfully.
Myrtle loved OES (Order of the Eastern Star). She was a past Grand Worthy Matron of Princes Zorah, Chapter No. 10, Electa Grand chapter, Prince Hall Affiliation, State of Iowa and Jurisdiction, Inc. She has served as the Interim Grand Secretary, Grand Secretary, Past Worthy Matron and was currently serving as the Chapter Secretary for Princess Zorah No. 10. When there was a meeting you would find her in attendance. She loved going to Midwest Grand Chapter meetings and shopping for OES regalia. She was very knowledgeable of OES policy and procedure.
Myrtle stepped from time into eternality on February 13, 2022. was reunited with her son, Craig Jackson; mother, Billie Fishback and step-father, Robert Fishback.
Myrtle leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Paula Jackson; grandchildren, Christal (Shawne) Jackson-Thomas, Mykia Denmon; four great grandchildren, Bryan Dunbar Jr, Stephon Camp, Jayden Jackson-Thomas and Collin Wright; two brothers, Joseph (Joyce) Jackson and Robert Fishback Jr; a sister, Larecca (Ricky) Hamilton; along with a host of extended relatives, fraternal sisters and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Paula Jackson in care of Henderson's Funeral Home.
