Morris Amara

Morris David Amara was born on May 20, 1968, to Abdul Rahman and Musu Massaquoi in Tewor District, Liberia. He obtained an undergraduate degree at Grandview University and a master’s degree in public policy at Drake University. Morris has a career in transportation as a cab driver. Morris had married Frances Mensah, and the two became one under matrimony. 

Morris was an active member of the community. He was a chairman of the Advisory Board. Morris was also the current director of Culture and Diversity of Africans in Iowa Empowerment and The Sierra Leone Association of Iowa. He was an avid reader and kept in tune with local and foreign political affairs. 

Morris David Amara passed away on January 30, 2025, in Iowa City at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abdul and Musu Massaquoi and sister. 

Those left to cherish Morris in loving memory are his wife, Frances Mensah; son, Morris S. Amara and siblings; along with a host of extended family and beloved friends.
