Monica Ann Leverette was born March 24, 1971 in Des Moines, IA to Wilbert and Lillie Mae (Chism) Leverette. She was Cynthia Leverettes twin sister. Sadly her twin passed away two years ago.

Monica was educated in the De Moines Public school system where she graduated from East High School.

Monica loved to sing. She was a member of Evangelistic Church of God in Christ and sang at church whenever possible. She collected stuffed animals and was an expert baker. She loved baking cakes for her family. She was good at playing dominos and cards. Monica also crocheted in her spare time. She loved traveling to see new places. But her favorite pastime was picking on her brother. They loved each other and kept up a friendly rivalry. Monica loved animals and always wanted a dog.

Monica passed away January 1, 2021, after a valiant fight against kidney disease. She was 49 years old. She was preceded in death by her sister, Cynthia and her father, Wilbert Leverette, Sr., grandparents, Rev. William Chism and Dora Lee Stadmire;

Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Lillie M. Leverette; her siblings, Jerome (Bonnie) Chism, Wilbert (Patricia) Leverett, Jr., Gregory (Sheryl) Leverette, Sr., and Raul (Carrie) Moreno; nieces, Cierra Leverette, Keisha and Jasmine Renfro and nephews, Gregory Leverette, Jr, Anthony Renfro and Dominic Moreno; Aunts, Louise Chism and Pearlie Ford; uncles Willie Chism and William Chism; her God brother, Danny Evans, Jr.; God sister, Lucretia Williams; God mother, JoAnn Bundy; her extended family and friends.Visitation
