Minnie Elizabeth Rollen was born on August 19, 1934 to Marvin Hutchins and Dorothy (Wilhite) McNeal in Mexico, Missouri. Minnie graduated high school In Missouri . She was united in marriage to Mr. Curtis Bell Rollen in 1984 and the family relocated to Des Moines in the early 90s.
Minnie worked in the dietary department of the Boone County hospital. Hospital food never tasted so good.
When she wasnt working, Minnie loved watching tv, especially anything "cowboy". She loved watching the old western movies and series like Gunsmoke. She never missed Lester Holt on the "CBS Nightly News". She also loved to watch gospel on the tv as well. Minnie had a large collection of angels and stuffed animals she had accumulated over the years. She loved to travel to visit family in Missouri when she was younger. Minnie loved flowers and her family would send them to her for no reason other than she enjoyed them. She was a great cook. and the family looked forward to their favorite fried chicken, corn and mashed potato meal. Minnie was a devoted Church Mother, serving the Lord at Morning Star Baptist Church. She wasnt much for singing, but she could really "hum" those gospel classics.
Minnie was proceeded in death by her husband Curtis Rollen; her mother, Dorothy McNeal; brother, Marvin Hutchins Jr.; sisters, Katherine Fauntleroy, Frances Hayes, Lutie Gibson, Lillian Brown and Sherry Johnson.
Minnie was survived by her children, James Hickem, Ronnie Hickem, Tony Hickem, David Noble, Lynda Robbins, Flora Taylor, Sharon Hickem, Patricia Nelson, 14 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
