Mildred Marie Tindrell

I was born May 21, 1930, In a small mining camp called Snider; which was about 4 miles north of Granger, Iowa. My parents were Joseph and Pauline (Crowder) Wesley. They were the parents of nine living children: Ruby Irene, John Edward, Gladys Mae, Mary Louise, Joseph Walter, Jr., Marvin Daniel, Evelyn Berniece and Velma Jean and of course me, Mildred Marie. I was the third born child. I was sad that all of my siblings went on before me, but now, what a reunion we are having!

I graduated from high school and joined the world of work. I learned to work hard on the farm where I was raised. I worked a variety of jobs from salad girl, to factory work and eventually I went back to school and earned my nursing license.

In 1951, the man I had been dating for several years, Everett Tindrell, asked me to marry him. He was a fine man, already an elder in the Church of God in Christ. He was a hard worker, rooted and grounded in the Word of the Lord. We set about building a life and a future together. In 1953, I was baptized in the Des Moines River by Elder Battles. When Everett became Bishop Tindrell, I was the First Lady of the State. I was active on the Mothers Board, President of Home Foreign Missions, Prison Ministry, Health Classes and the Mae Davis Clinic. I was a busy mother of six children of my own and surrogate mother of three of my sisters children. God carried me through.

When I had a moment to myself, you would find me at a favorite fishing spot. In Saylorville or Perry. I loved cooking and setting a fine table. That was always a presentation. I loved to study the word of God. Truly it was a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. When someone needed advice I would always ask them, "What does the word say?" I loved attending church and dressing up with my hat and handkerchief collection. I raised my children within a Christian family structure, with traditional values, morals and expectations. They all made me very proud.

On December 10, 2016 I went home to be with the Lord. I was received by my Heavenly father; my dear husband, Everett; my daughter, Kimberley Lynn Tindrell; my earthly parents, Joseph and Pauline Wesley; and all of my siblings.

I leave behind my children, Everett Alver Tindrell, Minister Wesley Romell (Lula W.) Tindrell, Pastor Stephen Kim (Ruby D.) Tindrell, David Morris Tindrell, Dawnelle Marie (Pastor Michael) Conley, Tyree Clynard (Pam) Wagner, Bobbie Jean Wagner and Jason Rutledge (Charlotte) Wagner, 15 grand children and 33 great grandchildren along with my extensive church family, work mates and many friends.
