Meredith Ann Burton was born in Hannibal, Missouri on December 26, 1945 to Andrew Albert Hadley Robinson and  Fannie Mable Bright. She received an education within the Des Moines Public School System and graduated from North High School. Meredith spent many years working compassionately as a caregiver at Methodist Hospital and caring for residents at Peppertree Apartments in Urbandale, Iowa. 

Sister Burton found her church home at Greater Love Church of God in Christ, where she was known as a church mother.Meredith worshipped and had fellowship with her brothers and sisters in Christ. 

Meredith knew how to have a fun time at the Elks, before she changed. She loved playing Yahtzee, solitare and checkers with friends and family. Meredith enjoyed all music genres but she really loved music by The Temptations. She really liked colors, with purple being her favorite. When Meredith relaxed at home, you could find her on the porch, people watching or watching soaps, like “Young and the Restless.” Meredith could cook a pot of pinto beans and potato soup with love and it would taste so great. She also babysat her great grandchild, “Toots,”  and other younger people. 

Meredith passed away on October 31, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Williard Burton; parents, Andrew and Fannie Robinson and siblings, Roy Allison Jr., Emma Lou Wells, Lincoln Allison Sr., Carl Allison, James Allison Sr., Harper Allison Sr., Mable Hawkins, Sandra Talton, Gary Robinson Sr., Mildred Hobbs and Rosalyn K. Robinson. 

Left to cherish Meredith in memory are her children, DeWayne (Tammy) E. Robinson and LaShawn; siblings, Anthony (Tammy), Wanda Sue McBride, and Phyllis (Jerry) Woods; grandchildren, Courtney, E’Miya, Ermias, DeReted, DeAndre, Dewayne Jr. and Demarco; two great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
