Melaina Ann Logan

Melaina Ann Logan was born on February 20, 1950 to James and Roma (Buckner) Goldman, in Columbia, MO. Melaina, affectionately known as "Lainie", was educated in the Columbia School District and graduated from Hickman High School.

Malaina confessed Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age. While in Columbia, she was a member of Wrights Temple Church. During her time in Des Moines, Sister Logan fellowshipped at Evangelistic Missionary COGIC, Revival Center COGIC and God's House of Power COGIC.

Lainie was blessed with three children: Frances, Quentin and Corey. She was an "Ol' School Mother" who did not play! Lainie knew it was important to give her children a good spiritual foundation and made sure they knew Jesus.

Melaina enjoyed her personal time! She would spend it watching her favorite judge shows, Project Runway and Family Feud. She was also an experienced bargain shopper at garage sales and thrift stores. She was the best at finding high quality merchandise at the lowest prices. She also found solace in tending to her plants.

Now Melaina will forever be known for her cooking. She even made a career out of it. She worked at the Iowa Jewish Home and Scottish Rite Park as a cook. It was in her own kitchen where her lemon meringue pies, salmon croquettes and other delicacies came to life. She truly expressed her love for others through her culinary masterpieces.

On November 22, 2015 Melaina received word from the Master that her labors were finished on this side. She was welcomed home with open arms and reunited with her parents, James and Roma Goldman and two brothers, Robert and Lawrence James.

Left to carry on Lainie's legacy are her children, Frances (Kenneth) Neighbors, Quentin (Michelle) Logan and Corey Wilson; grandchildren, Quentin Jr., Erriana, Delroy, Tara, Jamal, Xaiver, Emma, Kenneth Jr. and Nason; siblings, Elenora Wright, Loretta Goldman, Barbara Goldman, Maurice Goldman and Sonja King and a host of other relatives and friends.
