Mary Alice Burney-Morgan

Ms. Mary Alice Burney-Morgan passed away October 4, 2022.

A Memorial Service planned for 2 pm Friday, at Hope-Elim, 25th and University. Visitation will be held from 1pm until the hour of service.

Mary Alice Burney-Morgan was born July 12, 1962, in Deerfield Beach, South Florida to the union of the late Julius Carl Whitfield and Lily Mae Burney. She was raised by her grandmother Inez Burney.

She attended Deerfield Beach High School and graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Upper Iowa University.

At a young age, Mary Alice accepted Christ while attending Christian House of Prayer. Mary Alice's professional career included service to her country in the armed forces while she was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. She was a police officer in Broward County and served valiantly in multiple locations as a social worker for more than 30 years. She also spent many years volunteering in her local community and most recently served as Administrative Coordinator at Hope+Elim Church. Mary Alice was an avid prayer warrior and was known for her radiant smile and affectionate personality.

Mary Alice was preceded in death by her grandmother, Inez Burney; mother, Lily Mae Burney; father, Julius Carl Whitfield and her sister, Peggy Burney.

She is survived by three children: Ontaria Mann, Darian Crayton, and Victoria Gamblin (husband-Larry Gamblin). She leaves to cherish her memories her brother, Eddie Burney (wife- Sallie Burney).

She leaves behind grandchildren; Jasmine, Mason, Nova, Justin, Gabrielle, Aubrianna, Mariah, and Jamari as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins to cherish her memories.

Mary Alice's legacy is left through her unwavering devotion to her family, friends, church, and community. She now takes rest from her earthly labor to receive her heavenly rewards.
