Martinez Goode

Martinez “Marty” Goode, 68, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2024, in Atlantic, Iowa, joining his parents and sister in heaven.

Marty was born on October 4th, 1955  in Baltimore, Maryland to parents Theodore “Teddy" Goode an Army Veteran and Purple Heart medal recipient and Melba Harp a mother of 4 and college attendant of The University of Iowa and Kaplan University. Marty grew up mostly in Baltimore, Md, he graduated from East High School in Youngstown, Ohio in 1973, where the family relocated.

He worked for the Social Security Office, in Cleveland, OH and lived a short time in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Marty had a wonderful sense of humor, always laughing and smiling. He loved to watch movies and sports, specifically baseball.

Marty is preceded in death by his parents and sister Deanna (Goode) Austin.

To mourn his passing are; sister Danita (Ricardo) Heard, brother Paul Goode, brother in-law Darwin Austin, nieces Tasha Goode and Teal Goode, nephews Teon Goode, Quentin Heard and Xavion Heard. Great-nephews Cameron Goode and Daniel Goode, Marcus Prusha, and Great-niece Cataleya Goode-Romo.

Marty had a gentle soul and kind spirit. He made friends easily and was loved by everyone he encountered. He will be truly missed. God Bless you, and may you rest in eternal peace. Love, your family.

Upon his request his remains will be cremated. A private viewing will be held for the family on April 26, 2024 at Hendersons Funeral Home in Des Moines, IA.
