Mark LaQuin Washington

Mark Washington passed away on January 30th, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 6th, 2025, at Corinthians Baptist Church in Des Moines starting at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be prior to his service and will begin at 11:00 a.m. 

Mark LaQuin Washington was born on March 2, 1966, in Laurel Mississippi to John and Ora Washington. 

If Mark was around the times were sure to be memorable and filled with laughter. He loved to fish, spend time with his children and grandchildren, and most of all talk crap. Mark was all about family (which includes close friends). He was very proud of his family in Iowa and made time to reach out to his family in Mississippi weekly, if not daily. He was also a great cook. If you were lucky, he would cook you an entire meal from scratch, while telling you there is no need to follow the cooking instructions. Mark was unforgettable. I’m sure each person here has their own personal story to tell about him.

Mark passed on January 30, 2025. He was proceeded in death by his father John Washington, his brother Charlie Washington, and his beautiful daughter Shatara Washington.

Mark is survived by his loving mother, Ora Washington; his significant other and mother of his daughters, Shalon Edwards; his siblings, James Wright, Billy Joe Washington,Tensy Merrill, Teresa Wright, John Washington Jr., Bobby Washington, Tara Washington, Bernard Washington, and June Bug; his children, Marshayla Washington and Mark Paige; his grandchildren Amiayah Paige, MaKayla Paige, and Markus Paige and a wealth of nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved dearly.
