Margaret Irene Buckner

Margaret Buckner, (affectionately called Irene) was born on February 7, 1949 to Otis and Mary (Griffin) Buckner in Honeywell, MO.



Irene was blessed with three children: Donita, Billie and VanQuilla. She also raised two of her granddaughters. Irene loved her family and would do anything for them. All of her children and grandchildren knew Irene was a "NO Nonsense" Mama and Grandma. But you still felt the love and care she gave equally to them all.



Irene loved her soaps. From 11 am to 1 pm was her special time, because she had a standing appointment with "The Young and the Restless" and the "Bold and the Beautiful". She was a great cook and every Sunday you were treated to her famous pot roast or meat loaf. Irene spent a lot of her time talking to her best friends, Ms. Doris and Ms. Chris. She also spent time mentoring youth in the Quad Cities area volunteering with the Metro Drill Team.



At an early age Irene confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She attended The Word Church in Rock Island, IL.



Irene was called from labor to reward on August 29, 2014. She was reunited with her parents; her sisters, Fay and Mary Lou and brothers, Otis and Sherl.



Left to cherish Irene's memory are her children, Donita (Jerry) Williams, Billie Buckner and VanQuilla (Marsha) Smith Jr.; grandchildren, Candace, Martell Jr, Andre, ToriQuiesha, Kyesha, Chante and Davontae; great-grandchildren, Smaje', Andre Jr, King, Avianna, Aaliyah, Amira, Armoni, and step grandchildren, Quiana, Gayneatha and Javae; brothers, Reginald (Bobbie) Buckner and Donnie Charles Buckner of Queen Creek, AZ and a host of other relatives and friends.
