Mae Ola Steward was born on March 2, 1925 to Joseph Steward and Johnanna Batson in EuFala, OK. She was educated in the local school district and graduated from EuFala High School.
At the tender age of 23yrs. Old, Mae moved to Des Moines, IA, where she planted her roots and start her family. She was blessed with three children: Cecelia, Michael, and Dewayne. She was also blessed with two loving husbands who preceded her in death, R.C. Carter and Keil Wease.
Mae worked several jobs throughout her career including: Ironworks and Massey Ferguson. She spent the majority of her career working as a caretaker for the Cimino family.
When Mae was tending to her family or working she could be found cooking, camping, enjoying her doll collection or caring for others. And she was always dressed from head to toe. Her keen since of style had her turning heads every time she walked in the room.
On January 2, 2016 Mae was called from labor to rest. She was reunited on the other side with her son, Michael Carter; daughter, Cecilia Steward; her parents and siblings: Dan Law, Joseph Stewart and Juanita Hall.
Mae leaves to cherish her memories a son, Dewayne Wease; grandchildren, Tracey Piper, Theresa Hanson, Alexandra Gaffney-Peden, Robert Carter and Corey Steward; a sister, Ida B. Lockridge and a host of other relatives and friends.
