Lynnis Turner

Mr. Lynnis Turner passed away October 9, 2022.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1pm Thursday, October 13, 2022 at New City Church.

Visitation will be held from 12 pm until the hour of service. 

Lynnis David Turner was born on March 21, 1960 in Des Moines, IA to Watson Turner Jr. and Lonie B Green. Lynnis attended Roosevelt High School in Des Moines where he graduated.

After high school, Lynnis went to work. He worked security for Principal for most of his career. Lynnis was a member of New City Church.

When Lynnis was not working, he had a variety of hobbies. He liked to fish, spend time with friends and family, and even participated in boxing (Golden Gloves). Lynnis loved to listen to music, his favorite genres were gospel and rock. He was also a good cook and liked to travel. He liked to dress well, he loved the ladies, and fancied himself a comedian.

Lynnis passed away on October 9, 2022. He is preceded in death by his father, Watson Turner Jr.; stepfather, Melvin Green Sr,; grandfather, Nathaniel Jenkins, grandmother, Miriam Jenkins; his aunts, Tiny, Farry and Clarice; and his cousin, Vickie

Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Lonnie Green; son, Lynnis Sallis; his six grandchildren; Siblings, Melvin (Lisa) Green Jr, Terri (Frank) Irvin, Lynnette (Reggie) Morris and Shereatha Green along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
