Loretta Goldman

April 4, 1943 — December 23, 2024

Des Moines

Loretta V. Goldman was born on April 4th, 1943, to James and Roma (Buckner) Goldman in Columbia, Missouri. Loretta Goldman was educated in the Columbia Public Schools and graduated from Hickman High School.

Lorretta accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age and attended Wright Temple Church of God in Christ. After moving to Des Moines, Iowa, she attended New Bethany and Mission Temple Church of God in Christ.

Loretta was blessed with four children, Terri Johnson, Tony (Wanda) Goldman Sr., Stanford Goldman and Pamela Woods. She later adopted granddaughters, Shakiea Goldman, Cedrina Goldman and Saleena Goldman.

In 1970, Loretta moved to Des Moines to provide a better life and opportunity for herself and her children.

Loretta was employed at Tiny Tot Childcare Center for over 30 years. She quickly became known as Ms. Loretta to everyone after many years of taking care of children in the community.

After retirement, Loretta began to miss the love of working with children and began working for Des Moines Public Schools as a food service worker. She became a grandma to many of the students.

Loretta enjoyed going to church and traveling with her best friend, Ms. Marelene Hall. She spent time going to garage sales with her sister and spending time with her children and grandchildren. But most of all, Loretta enjoyed her green beans, orange pop, collecting beanie babies and eating her gummy bears.

Ms. Loretta will be missed by everyone.

Loretta is survived by her sisters, Eleanor Wright, Sonja King; brother, Maurice Goldman of Columbia, MO.; 15 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Loretta Goldman, 81, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 23, 2024. Loretta was preceded in death by both her parents; sisters, Melaina Logan and Barbara Goldman; nieces, Sonja Barnes and Roma Weathersby Harris; nephews, Karlos Goldman Sr. and Maurice Kinney; great-nephews, Karlos Goldman Jr., and William Kinney III.
